These sessions have been developed exclusively for IRCO Workforce Development Staff to address the specific challenges of working with your clients to secure employment and expand their future opportunities. Because space is limited for these sessions, please register ASAP to reserve your spots.

INTRODUCTION TO RESUME WRITING
Choose ONE session: Monday April 1 OR Monday April 29, from 1pm - 5pm
Learn key ways to create effective resumes for your clients! This hands-on workshop will cover:
- The best formats and styles to use when creating a resume for a client with limited work experience
- How to help clients to highlight what they’ve accomplished without overstating it.
- Methods of framing work histories featuring non-traditional experience, lack of education and residency issues.
JOB SEARCH STRATEGIES
Choose ONE session: Monday May 6th OR Monday May 13th, 2pm - 4pm
This workshop will cover strategies to integrate clients successfully into the workforce. Topics include:
- The best methods and channels for your clients to find opportunities online.
- Sources for free career aptitude assessments to use as a core part of the job search.
- How to help clients to use LinkedIn, Indeed, Craigslist and Twitter to find jobs.
COVER LETTER WRITING
Choose ONE session: Monday June 3rd OR Monday June 10th, 2pm - 4pm
Cover letters are a critical important component of the application process, as they provide a candidate the chance to explain challenges and transitions. This session will cover:
- Simple methods of highlighting client’s experience based on the roles they’re targeting.
- Using a cover letter to tell your client’s story and showcase their capabilities.
- How to effectively tailor a cover letter draft for each application.
INTERVIEW PREPARATION
Choose ONE session: Monday July 1st OR Monday July 8th, 2pm - 4pm
Job interviews are a real source of stress, even for the most qualified candidates! This workshop will cover:
- How to use the SPAR framework to help your clients to showcase what they’ve accomplished.
- How to encourage your clients to elevate entry-level responsibilities for higher-level roles.
- How to teach clients how to prepare for any type of interview using simple, storytelling strategies.
CAREER COACHING FOR UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES
Choose TWO sessions: Mondays August 5th & 12th - OR - Mondays August 19th & 26th - from 1pm – 5pm
These two in-depth sessions will you how to work with clients to overcome individual hurdles.
- Creating a career plan for your client’s next 1, 3 and 5 years.
- Ways to identify potential opportunities that leverage your client’s strengths.
- Resources for seeking out free, low-cost and subsidized training.
- How to address special issues like residency, criminal histories and SSI/SSDI benefits.
- Methods to explore freelance work, self-employment and entrepreneurial pursuits.
